Do you see the glass half-empty or half-full?
Most of my life, actually, until I was 41, I saw the glass half empty. I was a Negative Nelly. I had a lot of inner turmoil going on. I wasn’t confident in myself and I realized I needed to make some changes.
My first change, of course, was seeking inner happiness. I was happily married and had two healthy, wonderful kids, but I didn’t feel happy with myself deep down. In 2005, I started writing gratitudes and feeling happy with what I had.
I began gratitude journaling and worked on being present with my husband and kids. I stopped thinking the grass was greener on the other side.
I began thinking positive thoughts and living more presently. This truly takes a lot of focus!
When I got irritated with my hubby, instead of complaining or thinking negative thoughts about the situation, I learned to be happy and grateful that he was/is a great provider, for being honest and kind. I’ve learned to be content with what I have and who I am.
I don’t let setbacks define me or take me down. If something does upset me, I’m able to snap out of it quickly. The last 15 years, on my personal development journey, I’ve begun focusing on things that allowed me to grow and play big. It’s taken a lot of work and mindset work to build my confident foundation, but I did it. I can help you with this. 🙂
